Background
Rosie is the daughter of Lord and Lady Thorne, a wealthy merchant family in Ul'dah. Growing up, her parents spared no expense to overprotect her and groom her to be the heiress to their business. This plan would have been fine and dandy for Rosie, if she had never gone on her first trip out of Ul'dah.
Visiting Gridania on a business trip with her family when she was a child, she was assigned a private guard named Lance to protect and entertain her while her parents attended meetings. Charming, handsome, and strong, little Rosie fell head over heels for her temporary guardian. Compared to the strict rules and stuffiness of home, Lance's laid-back attitude and exciting stories of adventure entranced Rosie, encouraging her to desire a similar lifestyle.
Unfortunately for Rosie, her parents were against the idea of her becoming an adventurer and did everything in their power to keep her on the "right" path. However, she persisted and began training in secret.
On her 23rd birthday, Rosie's parents announed that they had arranged a marriage for her with another merchant family's son. This announcement set Rosie over the edge, and she decided to run away from home and finally pursue her dream of adventuring. She currently travels the land, seeking new experiences - and hiding from the guards her parents have sent to bring her home.
